Reasons for the blocking of a BMW R75 transmission.

On several occasions I have been asked for advice on a suddenly blocked transmission.
The reason was always the same.

The kick starter was pushed forward and the notch of the notch bracket was behind the small sheet metal plate (Anwerferanschlag), which disengages the notch from the gearing.
 

One reason was, that the position of the notch was set too far back during installation.
The other one is too soft a pressure spring that absorbs the kick back of the kick starter, but allows that the kick starter and therefore the notch moves so far forward that the notch places itself behind the small sheet metal plate (Anwerferanschlag).

Starting is no longer possible and the transmission is blocked.
Sometimes you can move the kick starter and get it free again.
But the problem comes back.
The transmission must be removed and opened in order to elimintae the damage.
